Seminar: Unmanned aerial vehicles – today and tomorrow

MBF Group S.A., as the organizer of the seminar, is actively involved in the development of the unmanned aircraft sector, which today is one of the key areas of dual-use technology – civilian and military. BSPs are used in such applications as. In logistics, critical infrastructure monitoring, energy, precision agriculture and security systems. At the same time, the dynamic development of the market reveals significant regulatory barriers and a lack of coordinated representation of the technology community. It was these challenges that provided the impetus for organizing the seminar “Unmanned Aerial Vehicles – Today and Tomorrow”.

COP 2 – Central Industrial District 2 as a platform for integration

Nationwide vision of modern industry

The COP 2 – Central Industrial District 2 project envisages the construction of a modern, distributed industrial and technological base covering all of Poland. The initiative integrates companies, academia and experts around future technologies and dual-use solutions. It aims to create sustainable conditions for scaling innovation and strengthening the competitiveness of Polish industry. The unmanned aerial systems sector is accorded special importance at COP 2.

Seminar “Unmanned Aerial Vehicles – Today and Tomorrow”.

Meeting of industry, science and public institutions

One of the first practical activities implementing COP 2 is the seminar “Unmanned Aerial Vehicles – Today and Tomorrow”, which will be held on December 15, 2025 at the Cracow University of Technology. The event brings together representatives from technology companies, system integrators, R&D teams, universities and government. The program includes industry papers, expert speeches and a moderated discussion. The purpose of the meeting is to identify the key development challenges of the BSP sector and develop common directions for further action.

Organizers and partners of the event

The seminar is organized by MBF Group S.A., in cooperation with the Polish Industrial Lobby named after him. Eugeniusz Kwiatkowski, Drone Space Valley and Cracow University of Technology. Their involvement underscores both the industrial and strategic nature of the initiative. The event is open to the technological and scientific community. The organizers emphasize the practical dimension and real results of the meeting.

Working Group “BSP – Community of Interest.”

The collective voice of the BSP industry

One of the key outcomes of the seminar is expected to be the establishment of the “BSP – Community of Interest” Working Group and the election of its Coordinating Council. The group aims to become a sustainable platform for cooperation between business, science and policymakers. Its task will be to coordinate activities in the regulatory, technological and investment areas. The initiative is intended to enable more effective representation of the interests of the BSP sector in Poland.

Post-event relationship and next steps

Documents, declarations and agreements

MBF Group S.A., as the organizer of the seminar, plans to publish a detailed account of the event, along with a summary of the findings and conclusions, on its website after the event. Signed declarations, documents and agreements will also be made available, if they are already concluded at the meeting stage. These materials will formally confirm the start of cooperation within the BSP community and the COP 2 project. The goal is to ensure transparency, continuity of operations and make the initiative sustainable and operational.

Summary: BSP – today and tomorrow

The seminar “Unmanned Aerial Vehicles – Today and Tomorrow,” held at Krakow University of Technology, was one of the first such wide-ranging forums of debate in Poland dedicated to the development of drone technologies with civil and military applications. The event, organized within the framework of the COP 2 project by MBF Group S.A., the Polish Industrial Lobby and Drone Space Valley, brought together representatives of industry, academia and public administration. The discussion focused on the growing role of unmanned aerial systems, regulatory barriers and the need to build national technological competence.

The content section presented a wide range of issues – from the strategic role of drones on the modern battlefield and in security systems, aerodynamic design and propulsion, to advanced Model-Based Design methods, avionics, control systems and hybrid power sources. The potential of dual-use technologies, the importance of automation and artificial intelligence, and the need for close cooperation between industry and R&D facilities were particularly emphasized. The seminar also helped identify viable opportunities to move quickly from concept to prototypes and production.

The most important outcome of the meeting was the establishment of a Coordinating Council of the drone community, operating within the framework of the COP 2 project. The council is expected to serve an integrative, coordinating and initiating function to further the BSP sector, including in the areas of regulation, financing and cross-sector cooperation. It included representatives of government, scientific and industrial circles, among them the CEO of MBF Group S.A., who took on the role of vice chairman of the Council. It was stressed that the newly-established body will operate in an open and self-governing formula, preparing its own work plan and scenarios for further initiatives.

The seminar participants unanimously pointed out that the establishment of the Coordinating Council is an important step towards organizing and strengthening the Polish drone ecosystem and representing the industry’s interests more effectively. It was announced that the work will continue in the form of further meetings and conferences, focused on practical implementation and cooperation with public institutions.
