In early October, we announced the appointment of two new members to the Supervisory Board of MBF Group SA. We have thus strengthened our team with outstanding specialists with many years of experience. Doctor of Economics Daniel Alain Korona scientist, manager, business practitioner and social activist, and Karolina Pewniak – experienced lawyer and expert in commercial law and restructuring.

Their extensive careers and specialized expertise herald a new phase of dynamic growth for MBF Group SA, where strategic decisions will now be based on extensive knowledge and experience in management, law and economics.

Outstanding CV and Achievements

Dr. Daniel Alain Korona was born in 1963, and his professional activities date back to before Poland’s political transformation. He was an active participant in the opposition movement, engaging in anti-communist activities as part of the Independent Students’ Union (NZS) and working with the NSZZ “Solidarity”. His political activities in the 1980s. was instrumental in organizing contacts with the foreign opposition, among others. With the Solidarity Coordination Office in Paris.

After graduating from the Central School of Planning and Statistics (SGPiS, now the Warsaw School of Economics) with a degree in finance and statistics in 1987, Korona pursued his academic and professional career. He received his doctorate in economics from the University of Warsaw in 1994, and his dissertation was on the transformation of state ownership in Poland and the world. As an employee of the Institute of Economic Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences (INE PAN), he spent many years researching issues related to the globalization of capital markets, the National Investment Funds program and the privatization of state-owned enterprises.

Dr. Daniel Alain Korona also has extensive experience in management and supervision. His career at Elewarr Sp. Ltd. began in 2006, when he became a member of the Supervisory Board and later its chairman. In 2007, he took over as Chairman of the Board of Directors of this state-owned company, which specializes in grain marketing and storage. Under his leadership, Elewarr made a record profit in the company’s history. In addition, Dr. Korona developed ambitious growth plans, including the establishment of his own transportation base and the development of the processing sector, with the aim of further expanding the company in the market.

Community and Union Leader

In addition to his managerial activities, Dr. Korona was actively involved in social and trade union activities. He was chairman of the company organization of the Solidarity Trade Union at the Institute of Economic Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the inter-company organization of the PAN unions. In 2013, he became president of the veterans’ Association of Fighters for Independence 1956-89, and founded the Perpetual Public Interest Association, which helps citizens in disputes with state authorities.

Dr. Korona also played a key role in uncovering loopholes in the calculation of interest on late payment of tax arrears, which was of great importance to many taxpayers in Poland.

Karolina Pewniak – New Member of the Supervisory Board

Karolina Pewniak is an experienced lawyer with more than 20 years of professional experience who specializes in providing legal services to businesses and NGOs. Her track record in civil, business and labor law, as well as her numerous successes in representing clients in collection cases, make her a valuable acquisition for MBF Group SA.

Careers and Education

Karolina Pewniak is a graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw, from which she graduated in 2004 with a degree in legal sciences. After graduation, she continued her education, completing her legal advisor’s apprenticeship at the District Chamber of Legal Advisors in Warsaw from 2005 to 2009, becoming licensed as a legal advisor.

Further enrichment of her knowledge was provided by postgraduate studies in bankruptcy and corporate restructuring, which she completed in 2021-2022 at Lazarski University in Warsaw. Thanks to this specialization, Karolina Pewniak has become an expert in processes related to the management of difficult legal situations of companies, which is particularly important in times of economic instability.

Extensive Legal Experience

Ms. Karolina Pewniak gained experience working in the legal departments of prestigious companies such as Elektrim SA, Elektrim-Volt SA and INTERRISK Towarzystwo Ubezpieczeń Vienna Insurance Group. There, she served as legal counsel, and her duties included advising on civil, commercial, insurance and labor law matters. He has experience in drafting and reviewing contracts, agreements, legal opinions and representing companies in court and administrative proceedings.

Her extensive professional practice also included running her own legal business. In 2021, Karolina Pewniak founded the law firm Pewniak and Partners Sp.k., which specializes in providing legal advice and representing clients in civil and criminal matters, with a particular focus on debt collection cases and enforcement proceedings.
